vintage silver print, Chris Bruno was active between 1950s and 1980s as a photography teacher in New York. He successfully exhibited his work in a number of New York galleries attracting critical attention. He is a proponent of American surrealism and abstraction – creating a large body of exceptionally dramatic images that often transformed his urban environment into metaphysical dream images. After his passing, his legacy seems to have been forgotten and dispersed. It is ripe for rediscovery and proper evaluation.
